In Gazipaşa, fishermen rescued a person who was on the verge of drowning

At Koru Beach in Gazipaşa, a person who fell into the sea while trying to retrieve a lost sandal was at risk of drowning but was rescued by fishermen. The individual was brought to the port on a fishing boat and, after receiving medical attention, was taken to Gazipaşa State Hospital for treatment. The rescue was recorded on a mobile phone camera.

The incident occurred yesterday around noon at Koru Beach in Gazipaşa. According to reports, Musa Yıldız entered the water to retrieve a sandal that had fallen into the sea. However, due to rising waves, he was unable to reach the shore and faced drowning danger. Nearby citizens noticed his distress signals and alerted the police. Coordinating with the police, Hasan Bülüç, the President of the Gazipaşa Fishermen’s Cooperative, and fisherman Şaban Aman initiated a rescue operation. Using ropes and barrels, Bülüç managed to keep Yıldız afloat until the fishing boat arrived 20 minutes later.

Fisherman Şaban Aman and his team rescued Yıldız with their boat and brought him to the port, where medical personnel were ready to provide immediate assistance. Hasan Bülüç stated that upon receiving the emergency call, they rushed to the scene and managed to act promptly.

Şaban Aman pointed out that similar incidents are quite common. Over three years, he has saved five people from drowning. He mentioned that if they had been allowed to use the port’s zodiac boat, they could have reached the scene in three minutes. In this case, their boat arrived in 20 minutes.
