The medication crisis is growing in Alanya

Pharmacists in Alanya are reporting that the supply shortages of various drug groups are continuing to increase. The Antalya Chamber of Pharmacists Alanya Representative, Türker Babalık, stated that they are facing serious problems, especially with psychiatric medications and green prescription drugs.
Pharmacist Türker Babalık mentioned that medications used for attention deficit disorder are not available on the market. He emphasized that over the past few months, there have been significant difficulties in obtaining certain medications, which has especially caused serious problems for pediatric patients.
CRITICAL SHORTAGE OF GREEN PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS
Babalık explained that due to the low prices of drugs sold under green prescriptions, manufacturers are not producing them, leading to major disruptions in the supply chain. He noted that only 100 boxes of medication have been sent across Antalya, while there are more than 1,500 pharmacies in Alanya alone, making it even more difficult for citizens to find medications.
DIABETIC MEDICATIONS ALSO AT RISK
Babalık also stated that some medications used by diabetic patients are not available on the market, as some companies have stopped producing these drugs. Despite prescribing alternative medications, sometimes even generic drugs are unavailable.
REASONS FOR THE MEDICATION CRISIS — CURRENCY AND COST INCREASES
Babalık pointed out that one of the main reasons for the medication supply shortages is the increase in costs and exchange rate problems. Due to economic uncertainties, manufacturing companies are reluctant to release certain medications onto the market. This situation is creating difficulties for both pharmacists and patients.
