A 'Mini' Solution for Weddings

As we gradually enter the summer months, wedding season has begun. Many citizens are starting to prepare for the weddings they plan to have this summer, while the cost of organizing a wedding has risen by 25% compared to last year. In response, industry representatives have come up with the "mini wedding" solution.

According to data in Turkey, out of 600,000 couples getting married, 500,000 prefer to hold a wedding ceremony. However, the rise in currency exchange rates and high inflation are making the cost of weddings increase every year.

With the arrival of April, the wedding season has started to pick up. Industry representatives note that wedding shopping has started to accelerate this month, with wedding costs increasing by 25% compared to last year.

According to Hürriyet’s news, when adding up all the expenses for the organization, wedding dresses, tuxedos, photographers, and flowers, citizens wishing to marry need to budget at least 350,000 to 400,000 TL. This has become a significant financial burden for many couples.

Adem Sönmez, President of the Istanbul Wedding and Conference Hall Tradesmen's Chamber (İSTDO), announced the development of a new formula for couples planning to marry this year. According to Sönmez, couples can now opt for a "mini wedding" option limited to two hours.

This new model is both more economical and practical, Sönmez said, adding:

"Municipalities hold weddings in half an hour. We have prepared our halls for a two-hour wedding format. It’s like a mini wedding. Couples can host their guests, dance, and have a cake ceremony. Prices are half of a regular wedding. Couples have started preferring wedding halls over municipal ceremonies. This year, mini weddings are 15% more preferred."
