Warning to homeowners in Alanya: You could lose your property

Homeowners need to be especially cautious in the urban transformation process due to new regulations. Otherwise, they may risk losing their homes—often without even realizing it.

One of the new regulations introduced during the urban renewal process is the use of electronic notification systems instead of notifications via a notary. This poses a particular risk for homeowners living abroad or those who do not follow announcements made by local neighborhood headmen (muhtars). After a notification is sent to the land registry office, a notice will be posted on the building, and decisions will be delivered via the electronic notification system. If homeowners do not receive these notifications, they may face the risk of having their property put up for sale.

MEETING REQUIREMENT REMOVED

The requirement to hold official meetings for urban transformation projects has also been removed. A contractor can now be selected and a project can begin with the approval of just 50.1% of the property owners. This may lead to decisions being made without fully informing all homeowners.

Homeowners in Alanya are also advised to stay vigilant regarding the new regulations and decisions to avoid any negative consequences.
