SGK took action! Insurance of tens of thousands of people has been cancelled

As part of inspections carried out in 2024, the Social Security Institution (SGK) identified 2,404 individuals who divorced their spouses in order to receive an orphan's pension but continued to live in the same household with their ex-spouses.
SGK is continuing its inspections regarding unregistered employment, fake workplaces, and fraudulent insurance practices. Last year, the institution audited 124,982 workplaces for unregistered employment and 12,684 workplaces specifically for fake insurance registrations. SGK is also continuing its efforts to uncover fraudulent divorces.
In 2024, a total of 3,002 inspections were conducted across Turkey targeting those who divorced to receive an orphan’s pension but continued living with their ex-spouses. These inspections revealed that 2,404 people were receiving benefits through fraudulent divorces, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
As a result of SGK's 2024 audits, it was also discovered that 2,114 workplaces were fake, and the insurance of 94,740 individuals, who were either not working or were falsely registered through fake workplaces, has been cancelled.
